MIGHT I SUGGEST BUYING A SNOWBLOWER. IF YOU'RE GONNA BE HERE FOR A FEW YEARS, IT'S WORTH THE INVESTMENT AND YOU CAN FIND GOOD USED ONES IN THE PAPER. IT'LL MAKE CLEARING THE DRIVEWAY A TON EASIER! JUST A FRIENDLY TIP.
This is fun. You guys really need to learn how to ski. Since both of you are outdoorsy, might I suggest cross country skiing at Wilderness Lodge? It's about 20-30 minutes southeast, between Wattsburg and Peek 'n Peak. The trails are absolutely the best I've been on (and groomed frequently), and there are tons of them. Most of the trails are in the woods so it's pretty and not frigid. Drop a note somewhere if you need directions, although I would imagine more of the local bloggers can help with that, too. If you decide to go this weekend (and how can't you with all the fresh snow we've had since last weekend), I'd suggest Saturday. By Sunday it's supposed to be warmer, so the snow will be a little soft and probably unenjoyably slow. I believe you can take Powers with you if he's on a lead, but you need to check with them. They might not like him on the groomed surface. Dunno.
BTW, I 2nd the kiser's recommendation of a snowblower. Rather than tie up your comments section with my thoughts, if you want to have a discussion from yocals on snowblowers toss up a post and I'm sure you'll get all the advice and experience you can stand.
You are making me homesick....nothing like a good snow!!!! I remember going for walks at night and it was soooo quiet and the moon sparkled on the snow....magical.

Just talked to my grandma and she said it was snowing like crazy there.
