Pepperoni Balls & Ice Storms

I had my first pepperoni ball. It was really good! Not what I anticipated- there was more bread than I expected- it's like a doughnut meets a pizza. Never had I heard of a pepperoni ball until I came here. Neither had I heard of putting french fries on a salad- Erie, you're wild. Anyways- tasty on the pepperoni ball- I'd like it more if I had dipped it in spicy ranch.

Okay, moving on- we had a huge ice storm on Tuesday night. Our electricity went out and so Adam & I accidentally slept a little late- whoopsie. I wish I'd taken pictures because the ice was insane. I couldn't get my car door open so I hitched a ride with some guy (Adam) and made it in to school after chiselling at his windshield for 10 minutes. Wild times. The tree's circumference practically doubled because of the extra thick layer of ice on them. Well, the skinny tree's, anyway. I guess the fat tree's only gained a small fraction of their size. Today is beautiful, though, the sun is out and that makes me happy! Don't leave me, sun!

No class for Adam today. He has a test tomorrow so I left him studying in front of the fire with Powers, this morning. He made me tea and warmed up my car, though, so it's okay.

This week's going by so quick. Like Monday- it seemed like 1/2 a day. And then Tuesday was busy so it seemed like two hours. But then Wednesday was long, lot's of work. So it was like a day and a half...
Oh, Steve.

Freakface, you're added!

Happy Thursday!

please elaborate on these pepperoni balls-I'm intrigued. Also, french fries on a salad? Doesn't that totally miss the point of eating salad? yes....i would like some bacon on my broccoli as well please...

You can make pepp balls very easily at home w/more pepp in them. They do jip you on the pepp. Go to Pittsburgh and they put fries on everything. I was just thinking the other day here......no fries on any salads. What a rip off. Nothing like a steak salad w/fries. High 60's and wearing shorts here yesterday...winter storm watch for up to a foot of snow here thurs/fri.....uh in Little Rock in March even. Next the locusts will be coming.

Yum... pepperoni balls and fries on salad are my life! I hope the pepperoni ball was from Patti's Pizza bc they are great. I lived in Atlanta for 5 yrs and no restaurants had either!

Try the pepperoni balls at Patti's Pizza and Theresa's Deli. They are very different from each other but equally deliciuos. Patti's also has pizza balls, which are pepperoni balls cut in half with sauce and cheese. They rock!

Just a suggestion - grab a pail next time you have to clear the car quickly. Fill with room temp or so water, toss at windows on car. It works great. HOWEVER 1) Do NOT use HOT water because it will cause windows to steam over and can crack them in some situations and 2) try to stand well away from vehicle to avoid backsplash. Thanks for the add. you will freeze you locks if you use water..... Best to just start the car 15 to 20 min early, Burn that oil...Yeh... Nobody saved any buffalo for me....

OK-I COME ALL THE WAY TO ERIE & YOU DO NOT SUGGEST PEPPERONI BALLS THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. SAVING THE GOOD THINGS FOR YOURSELF???? Personally, I thought the french fries on the salad were MAJOR YUCK!
Salad Dressing makes for soggy fries!

Hey, anonymous. Have you actually had your locks freeze from tossing water on your vehicle? I have used that technique for years without ever having a lock freeze. It wasn't my idea, either. Come to think of it, I can't think of the last time I've had a lock freeze, period. Your locks are generally sealed by a pressure plate in the keyway that keeps the weather out. I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just saying I've never heard a case of someone using water to clear windows and having the locks freeze.

Oh, and Lora's comment reminds me - if you think fries on a salad is weird, you should head North to Canada, where they put brown gravy on fries. No foolin', eh.

Freakface,

Yes my locks have froze, only after the vehicle has been doused or sprayed. THe key is still insertable, However It is just impossible to turn.

Because there are two anyomous poster here, I will call myself anonymous #2

Helloe all, Noticing the weird food remarks. JUst go up to the south side of Detroit and get some muskrat, Yes, Muskrat. Also you folks should try a pizza from Papa Joes West at 26th and powell.

I have never had a pepperoni ball or put french fries on my salad. Neither sound too good to me.... my yankee tastes are more NY state oriented. You need to get a "beef on wick"....roast beef sandwich. YUM...my favorite.

Room temp water always worked for me....never froze locks, but usually just let the car run 10 mins, but then gas was MUCH cheaper in those days.

Hey, we had snow today...just a sprinkle and they let the schools out early. Hahaha! Pandimonium. The snow was about gone by three.
They wouldn't know what to do with all the snow you have had.

Unfreezing locks...WD-40 OR a syringe (sans needle) filled with alcohol. You two are at a med-school, you have access to such contraptions.

And a comment to Marylou...never heard of broccoli salad??? chopped broccoli with a dressing made from mayo, vinegar and sugar. Includes other healthy items like onion, sunflower seeds, raisins and...bacon. It's true. google it.

It is amazing to see how many people out there with no knowledge of the pepperoni balls or the thick crust for pizza that you get at Patti's Pizza...I am from Erie, PA and those things are always good and have not changed in years...a must try for those who haven't......
