Glucose Tutor...

Picture from Last Pregnancy
Adam is at work or else I'd get him to take a picture right this instant!

Well, I am 30 weeks pregnant (whoooop!) and will be having my gestational diabetes test (a bit late, this time around) on Tuesday. Folks, I have to pass my first round test this time. When I was pregnant with Henry, I failed the first glucose test and had to go back the next morning for the 3-hour big-mama glucose test (which I passed- yay!). But still, it was a huge pain in the boot-ay and I don't want to worry about that again and finding Henry a babysitter so that I can get blood drawn over a 3-hour window.

Which leads me to my question.

Does anyone know any helpful hints or tips on making sure that you pass that initial glucose test? I know so many people who fail the initial one and then pass the second one, there must be a way...a solution...Eat an egg before? Stand on my head? Help, please!

P.S. Thanks for the help with the car seat dolly!

I would love to know this too! I failed the first one too! I did eat a funnel cake the night before so I blamed it on that!

I have no clue if this *actually* helps, but I have heard that you really should not eat anything for as long as possible beforehand. Naturally this could cause other problems (fainting among them), however. I passed my first test with Cole and only drank water beforehand all morning (the test was done around 10am or so). I'll be praying you pass the first one!

i had read to eat a high fiber and carbs, low sugar breakfast before every doctor's appointment and then try to schedule the test as EARLY as possible. Not sure? Just try not to trick the test. GOod luck!! I almost passed out when i had to drink the orange drink. It was GROSS.

I can't believe you are already 30 weeks! It has flown by, but it probably doesn't seem that way to you! Good luck on your test!

Hey Camille!
Did you know I'm pregnant too?! Due November 11th and I had my glucose test this morning too. I seriously hope I don't fail - I've heard the second one is NO fun. Can't wait to hear how it turns out =)

Hi! Found you on Med School Tagalongs. I'm just starting my third trimester! I have the glucose test Sept 3. They didn't tell me anything about it at my last appointment. I HAVE to eat first thing in the morning or I feel awful. Let me know what you decide to eat beforehand. I'd hate to go back for the 3-hour, too! Good luck and glad I found your blog:)
